But recently for the past month or two, it’s been stuck on the same picture and it stopped changing to new pictures. I checked my settings and I still have “Windows Spotlight” set as my lock screen but still nothing happens.

It just stopped working and changing pictures for some reason. If so, this guide details the steps to fix the issue. So when I enter administrator login credentials it says “The following error occurred: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted”. This happened windows 10 computer name wont change free other day when I tried to rename the computer at work while connected to the domain and also again while tinkering with it at home, not connected to my workplace domain. Seems to involve administrator permissions etc, but I still can’t change the computer name.

Anything else I can try? You mention domain a couple of times – is it a domain joined PC? I’ve experienced random issues renaming a domain joined PC in the past, although it’s a little more long winded I’ve always removed the PC from the domain, renamed it then re-joined the Domain under the new name.

This has always worked for me. Of course you will need a domain admin account too. Yes, it is a domain-joined PC. I suspect your idea would have worked but as I posted above, the system allowed me to rename the computer a couple days later, trying the same things that had not worked before. I suspect one of the automatic Windows Updates changed something that made it work but I’m not sure. So, I won’t be able to test your idea until if I hit the same snag again with another computer in the future.
